picked up a EPI tbird on a whim" 2015 model love it"maple bolt on neck solid mahogny body great ceramic pickups"IMHO the bolt on sounds better than the neck thru? not sure why? anybody else think so?
Individual basses can sound different but I doubt there’s a predicable or consistent difference between neck through and bolt on basses in general. I go with bolt on because a damaged neck can be replaced. That’s the only difference that means anything, IMO.
Better is subjective. To me, the bolt on TBirds can sound pretty good, but they don't sound like the original neck through Gibson models. Not better, not worse, just different.
