Aguilar DB Series Cabs

Trying to figure out a good stand alone cab to use. I'm interested in the aguilar db410 and 212. Looking for a cab that is punchy and articulate. I've read that the 212 is very mid heavy. Several people have said it has a mid-honk. Does anyone have experience with this cab? I would prefer the 70lbs 212 over the 98lbs 410. Any opinion or advise would be very helpful. Thanks.

"Mid honk" is very much in the ear of the beholder. As is the case with most things.

Some players, who find most cabs to be mids-deficient, regard the DBs as having just the right amount of midrange. Take note of everyone's opinions, assess them in light of your own preferences - but find a way to check these out for yourself before coming to any conclusions... :hmm:

I had the DB212 and 115 and sent them back. I love midrange but these cabs sounded very congested in the 400Hz range. Not pleasing at all. To me it sounded like drivers in an improperly tuned box. If you want punchy cabs with great mids with nice top end, try a pair of Bag End S15Ds or a Berg NV412.
