Aguilar DB751 fan's noise;

Hi, I have an Aguilar DB751, great amp! I have only a problem, when the amp is on I hear a little and costant noise from the fans. Not a tipical background noise of the fans but like a continuous "squeak". There is any problem?

Hello Sal,

I listened to your sound clip and what you are hearing is normal.

The fans in the DB 751 are thermal controlled and will change speed according to the heated conditions inside the amp to provide adequate cooling.

As a result you will hear the fan “cycle” – this is normal.

Enjoy the amp and please let me know if you have any further questions.

i knew this noise exactly. i got a used db 751 one month ago and he had the same fan noise. i dont understand that the aguilar guys say it is normal. for me it is evident that the fan is "dying". "wornout bearing" i guess is the english name.

i have replaced the fans with real "high quality thermal controled" ones and you only hear the wind noise. BTW the new fan has more airflow than the stock model. i will never understand that people who build audiophile equipment give nearly no money for such a important component. This one worked great for me:

correction:
i have examined the stock fans, again. if listened solo everyone seems ok, but you can hear the pulse noise (pushing the fan controlled a few times every second), so if both fans work together the pulse noises went out of sync leading to resonants....sounding like something scratching or so.....the nose dissapears when they reach sync... and so on...

yes i have connected them like the original: both fans in row.
tested it before with a powersupply outside.
i use them now over a year and had no problems and a very low noise even when the fan speed goes up. i use the db751(preamp) a lot for recording. i stands directly beside me and dont bothers.....only sounds great :-))
every day switching on this amp make me smile...

Is that fan sound normal? It's more prominent in person than on video. Could I get yall's opinion? The amp is 9 years old.

That sounds like an small airplane, but is an easy fix.
Im planning on buying a db751 and the only complains I found are about noisy fans, that's good, because I have a mesa titan v12 and other owners complains about overheating and toasted circuits.
