A nice roundup of sound samples for a great set of pickups. I scoured YouTube and listened to a good chunk of these myself before deciding on them and then waiting and watching like a hawk until they popped up on TB Classifieds.

I'm loving them.

One interesting and atypical property of these pickups (for anyone reading this thread and interested in them) is that there is no bridge model and neck model. Whereas most paired pickups that you'll find on a site like Best Bass Gear have different pickups with different windings intended for neck and bridge use, with these you just put two exactly identical pickups in your bass in the two positions.

I didn't realize that. Good observation! I'll be sure to let my tech know that. They don't mention it in any of the overviews.

Sound pretty aggressive. Almost EMG DCish.

I have these in my Lakland 55-60 and I would disagree that they are inherently aggressive. In a passive setting they actually have a very nice round and clear organic tone that is not overly aggressive at all. I don't think any of those clips above really showcase the passive sound of these pickups. I am thinking about adding a pre so I can enhance the bark of the bridge pickup a little when I want a little extra kick. First choice is a J-Retro...any thoughts or opinions are welcome.

I would also like to mention that these pickups are also very, very quiet! I say that with great emphasis because I rehearse in a club where there seems to be a ton of RF interference and every other bass I take there seems to produce a lot of buzz despite the fact that the pickups in my other basses are mostly high quality and are all dual coils in one form or another...split P, split J, J humbuckers and stack soapbars all are at least a little noisy in this environment. However the DCBs are silent with either pickup soloed and everywhere in between.

I just purchase Aguilar OBP-2 and DCB pickup.. i want to make it passive/active push/pull. anyone can help me which blend pot and volume pot should i order? A500k? or B500k? or 250k? thank you
