Aguilar tonehammer 500

I’m getting an Aguilar tonehammer 500 with an sl 112 cab. On their own, they are 250 Watts.

Which can I use as an extension cab, the 112 or 210? Used in connection with the 112, will they both get me to 500 Watts, and if so, then what is the difference between the 2 cabs (besides speaker size?)

In other words, what is the difference of using a 112 and 112 together, or a 112 and 210 together? Are they both 500 Watts?

Any single 4 ohm cab or combination of two 8 ohm cabs yielding 4 ohms in parallel will get you all 500w of output.

Aquilar's SL 1x12 is an 8 ohm cab so you'd need two to run at 4 ohms. The SL 2x12 is a 4 ohm cab w/500w power handling so those would be your choices as far as 12" cabs go. I don't see an SL 2x10 cab, only a 4x10 which could be ordered as a 4 ohm or 8 ohm cab.

so can i use the 2x12 in extension with a 1x12?
dont forget im using tonehammer 500

can u use a 2x12 on its own with the tonehammer 500 what would be the watts then?

The SL212 is 500 watts at 4 ohms. That means you can only use this cab on its own with the TH500. So you can't run the 212 together with the 112.

If you want to run a 312 (212 + 112) rig you'll need the AG700 which can run at 2.67 ohms.

Chris_b nailed it for you. You want to go with either the 2x12 or two 1x12 cabs to hit 4 ohm. No other combination using 12s will work with that 500w head. You'd need the 700w head for the setup you mention.

I guess my question would be what would you be using an extension cab for? If you want to spread out horizontally at times or have the versatility of using one or both that two 1x12s give you that would be the way to go IMHO.

so for 500 its either two 1x12 or one 2x10.
1x12 is more versatile cos i can use one and use 250 watts for just practice, or i can use two for when i gig.
but if cant be bothered lugging around 2 cabs and only 1, i have the 2x10.
so i probably have to think more about this and decide

500 watts is either 2- 8 ohm cabs or 1- 4 ohm cab. You can not run an 8 ohm and a 4 ohm at the same time with that amp.
