Aguliar Agro vs. Fulltone bass driver.

Which of those two would you recomend?

I play a Fender P bass on a GK 1001RB with a 410RBH. Which of thoose to is a better distortion and DOESN'T SUCK THE LOWS, 'cause a lot of bass distortions does that :/

I've personaly tried the Agro but that was a hvile ago when I didn't have the gear I have now and it was nice. My only problem is that I heard that the fulltone is better but non of those efects are in my local shops so if a buy one of those I just have to do it without trying :/

Any suggestions about those two?

What kind of sound do you like? Do you have any examples of bassists you like?

I've got the same setup and like a little bit of overdrive with a hard attack and some fret noise. The Fulltone is pretty cool and versatile as a clean boost with 2 channels. It can add a bit of clean brightness or take you to the edge of fuzziness. You can go with your clean sound, to a bit of dirt to full out distortion.

I like the fulltone before a SansAmp to boost my signal from a bit of grit to full overdrive. I can't comment on the Agro. I've listened to a bunch of clips of the Agro and I feel they live in the same sonic space but think the Fulltone would be a bit more versatile.

I also really dig the SansAmp bass driver for natural sounding breakup, the VT bass does the Tubey vibe a bit better. The only problem with these is that you lose a bit of that inherent GK tone for better or worse.

I play with a pick, rather agressive fast music. A mix of punk/grunge/stoner rock/psychodelic stuff. I think that if you check a band named "Future of the left" and songs "The lord hates a coward", "Chin music", "Finger becomes thumbs", "Team:sead" you'll get the sound I'm after, and the different distortion sounds I would like to get.

I have the VT bass it's ok if you're after some "illusion" of tuby sound, but as an distortion I would say it relly sucks. It's nice to slightly colour up your sound but nothing more.

Id get both. Ive had both and they are different - I got rid of the bass drive in favor of the way huge green rhino for a tubescreamer - its my mid gain overdrive, retains the low end better than the bass drive in my opinion, and I am looking to possibly get ahold of another agro or something else for my high gain distortion. Ive been listening to some of those songs. The lord hates a coward hes using some sort of fuzz pedal. He definitely uses a tube amp though. Out of these two choices I think the agro is more versatile and would get you more of the tones, but just try both and sell whichever doesnt do it for you, but he does use a fuzz.

I just picked up an Agro and am pleased so far. It may replaced my T21 modded VT . They are different. The Agro is more forgiving. I am looking for a way to have a nod to a vintagish grind that is not overwhelmming. The cover band I am in goes from Buddy Miles, to Chicago to Buble. So I am looking for variety.

The Bass Driver is definitely cool, but it does lose just a tad of low end. The more drive, the more low end squishiness. I really like it in the "comp cut" mode for just a touch of OD, and the boost works well on that setting to get quite a bit more volume and distortion.

I don't know about the Agro, never tried one out.

Never tried the Fulltone bass driver but I do have an Agro. I really like it. I run my VT bass into it and it nails the sound i have been searching for. IMO, the Agro does lose a bit of lows too, depending on how you set the dials, but it is so good at what it does it is a keeper for me.

Good Luck!

Never tried the agro, but I really liked what i've heard from the fulltone bass drive... nice top end overdrive sounds in them... and I didn't notice much loss in low end at all since I was looking for a little TOOLesque top end dirt sound and not a full drive sound when I tried it...
I hesitate between this and a Diamond J drive at that time, and I bought the J drive just for the kind of disortion it gives (the J drive sucks more lows), using with a boss LS2 in mix mode to use it as a blend knob and retain my lows...

I had the Fulltone for a while as struggled to actually like it. I really really wanted to, but in the end, it never did anything for me. Just sold it.

I’ve been hearing REALLY great things about all the Aguilar pedals but I haven’t had the chance to twist any of their knobs myself yet.
