Double Bass AI Coda 4 Users: Volume/Speaker Issue?!

Greetings: Bought an AI Coda 4 & get a great sound under very soft conditions.
Have an Underwood, EP Weichs & play in various small Jazz groups, quieter conditions with this amp.
However, experience problems when volume has to increase-midrange(5" front speaker!),the notes disappear when playing with some louder elec. piano, guitar, etc.
I have the master & channel volume set acc. to the manual & can't turn up tone controls too high because of the small speaker.
Tried flat, legs, presence switch, and am curious to know if others have this issue, use ext. spk., head only, etc., etc.
Played Sunday with this amp-carpeted area, elec. piano, guitar, vocalist & didn't have much success getting my sound to project.
Anyone use a wood panel under on carpet?
Thanks

I had similar issues with my AI Contra. At first I was in love with it, and it does sound great under the right conditions. I always found myself cutting the bass all the way off in loud situations. I think unless that small driver is pointed directly at your ear, it just doesn't have enough power to cut through and hear from the floor.

Eventually I came to the conclusion that I needed something with more juice.
