AKG D11/XLR - Experiences with mic'ing bass amps?

The AKG D112 seems to be a popular choice for bass mic'ing. Given its response curve and proven performance, I don't blame them. But there are better mics out there, of course... and I'm wondering if another similarly-priced AKG mic is much better.

My question is about a mic that I can't find anything about on TB; it seems to never be discussed - the AKG D 11/XLR. It's listed by AKG as a drum mic that can also be used for bass amplifiers - it specifically says bass amps! The response curve is also much flatter than the D112, and it claims to have a "gutsy" low end.

Has anyone used the D11? What has your experience with it been?

i know it's not the mic you are asking about but my band had a lot of success using an EV RE20 on the kick in addition to a D112 - the RE 20 doesn't have a hyped low end and it's pretty robust - it naturally rolls off at 18k and 45hz (note that response is essentially flat from 80hz on up and 45hz is at -3db)
it's a great tight sounding mic for low end instruments - and i wish i could have put it on my bass amp.

You can find them used for cheap as the design has been around for eons.

Really? I've never been able to find a cheap RE20. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places?
