Has anyone successfully upgraded there sr-18 to firmware 1.02?
I am trying to update mine using a usb to midi cable with Bome's sendsx 1.22. It says it finished transfering the data with Bome sendsx but the SR-18 only ever shows "MIDI Baud" on the screen. When I check my SR-18 it still says version 1.01.
I followed these exact instructions.
Before you begin: Any of your own patterns you made on the SR-18 user banks will be lost after performing a firmware upgrade. You will loose user patterns, songs and drum sets you created in your user banks once you have done this update. You can back these files up so that you can resend the patterns back to the SR18 after updating the firmware and to assist you, below the firmware upgrade instructions are instructions on how to back up your SR-18 patterns and how you would resend them after the firmware upgrade has completed.
Updating the SR-18 firmware
Required equipment: A MIDI interface, one MIDI cable. MIDI Utility software such as MIDI OX and Bome SX.
1.Download the SysEx file (SR18_1.02.zip) from our website. If you go to [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] then chooseDocuments and downloads from that page, choose to download the SR18 firmware upgrade. Once it has been downloaded the file will need to be unzipped. You can unzip files with the program Winzip for PCs, and you can use Stuff it for Mac OSX. Once the file is actually unzipped, it will be titled ld32-app-1.02.syx
Another way to unzip files on a PC would be to Right click the .zip file. In the list of options, choose Explore. A new folder should now open, in this new folder you will see the file needed to perform the firmware update, simply click on the file and drag it to a folder or your desktop that you will be able to access it from.
2.The next step would be to download a MIDI SysEx program such as BomeSX and install the program.http://www.bome.com/midi/sendsx/
3.Connect your MIDI interface to your computer and connect a MIDI cable from the MIDI output of the interface to the MIDI input of the SR18.
4.Open BomeSX, in the program you have to select your MIDI input and output. In this particular case, you will only need to select the MIDI output of your MIDI interface. Go to the MIDI out drop down of BomeSX and select the MIDI output of your MIDI interface. There will be a check next to it to show you that its the selected output.
5.On the SR18 have the power off, hold down the REC/Enter button and power on the SR18 and continue to hold theREC/Enter for a few seconds. The Screen will say MIDI BAUD.
6.The SR18 is now waiting to receive the update and BomeSX is prepared as well. To send to the actual update, go to Filethen Open in BomeSX and a new window will open. Select the SysEx file titled ld32-app-1.02.syx that you unzipped from step one, once it is selected choose Open, and now the SysEx file is ready to be sent.
7.Press the Send button in BomeSX. The SysEx file is now sending to the SR18 and is currently being updated. If you look in the bottom left hand corner of BomeSX, it will show the percentage of the update, do not touch the SR18 or BomeSX until it says Sending completed. Once BomeSX displays the message that it has finished sending the update, you can now turn the SR18 off and back on and it will have updated firmware.
Note: To make 100% sure that you have updated your SR18, have the power off on the SR18, hold down the System setup button and then power the SR18 back on, while the SR18 powers up, continue holding System setup for about 5 seconds. If it saysVersion V1.02 then you are up to date. If it does not, then you would need to retry sending the update.
