$1900 2016 Alien Audio Constellation 5 string, Double P. I call it “The Smooth Muthaf***a” because it’s a smooth muthaf***a. I’m the first owner. Alder body with a blue-black metallic finish. Looks conservative, but pops under lights in a big way. Maple neck, pau ferro fingerboard, 34” scale Hipshot hardware Dual Nordstrand P-pickups (reverse P in the bridge position) Alien Audio’s custom Mo West designed preamp of doom Ships in a sturdy Access gigbag. A wicked smooth and versatile bass. The Mo West pre might be the most powerful onboard pre I’ve encountered (imagine gutting a VT Bass pedal and putting the guts in the control cavity of a sweet axe... It’s pretty much like that). With all controls flat and the blend centered, you get just about the smoothest, sweetest tone you can imagine. Goose the blend towards the neck and you get... well, a rockin’ p-bass. Towards the bridge to favor the reverse P, and its reminiscent of a PJ with a soapbar in the bridge position. Balance the pickups and pull up on the tone pot and you go into “Hi-Fi mode” which gives you shades of MTD. In Hi-Fi mode, turn the blend 25% towards the rear and boost the EQ, and you can cop a surprisingly convincing Stingray. That’s not all: pull on on the volume pot and you get a totally usable overdrive.
whats the string spacing (at the bridge)on this guy ? is this the one Chopper had on his FB page awhile back? kind of a dark (midnight) kind of blue
This is the one. 19mm, 34 inch scale. Great axe. Wouldn't part with it, if not for some looming bills. I'm the first owner. Original price was $2600, iirc.
I have a four string like this and can vouch for the great sound from Alien Audio with the double P configuration.
Seriously; did a session today and the engineer loved my Constellation 5. My NYC Sadowsky PJ5 and Valenti PJ5 sat on the sidelines.
Accidentally marked sold when I tried to bump it ("Bump" and "Mark Sold" are very poorly positioned on Mobile...). No way to unmark sold, so I'll be opening a new thread... with a lower price.
