Allen Woody Rumblekat - Strings?

Hello, I just got an Allen Woody Rumblekat and it has a set of RS88's on it. Don't know why the previous owner put them on as they are too thick for the nut. I'm looking for a set of short scale FLATWOUNDS for this bass that will set nicely in the nut. Most important is that the sound I want is a rich, deep, soft, and smooth sound. Would like to know what flats you would recommend...doesn't matter whether they are chrome, nylon, nickel, stainless or what ever as long as they're flats and produce the sound I'm looking for. Thanx :help:

Zombie threads. I experimented with just about everything on my SG and ended up with a 20 year set of discontinued stainless steel halfrounds which don't exist anymore. Daddarios current halfrounds are nickel. I don't like them but you might. I tried shortscale sunbeams for a while too.

GHS makes Precision Flats short scale light that is good, and a Brite Flats set that in short scale is more round in tone.

All strings will have a bit of "zing" going in, so whatever you get, let them settle for awhile.

I wouldn't do Chromes, or Roto monel, as they are an inherently bright string.

If you want to spend the bucks, Optima makes a flatwound (not the gold - the chrome) that are the closest to the '60's & '70's Maxima strings in 50-105 that would probably be great on that bass for the round, smooth tone you're after.
