Alleva-Coppolo......all quiet?

Nice score!

Thanks...I think.....it has to come from Japan, so until I get my grubby little mitts on it, I am prepared for "surprises", not the least of which might be the weight. It came described as 9.3 lbs, which is light for an A-C P 5er, but about as heavy as I'd ever buy, especially for that price. Time 'll tell......
....and I still dunno if he's still building....I guess it's entirely possible he has such a backlog of orders that he simply no longer bothers with a web presence???

That’s what I heard, he has enough orders to keep him busy for the next couple of years and I believe he wasn’t taking any more orders for now.

To go to that length to burn it in, it must be something near and dear to his heart...

... I have no problem with the 'Question Everything' aspect of it.

But... that's just me.

I liked all the different versions. Every one had a backstory, according to Jimmy.

I concur with the benefits of being a skeptic, but in our current reality, that engraving can be interpreted by just about any one in any way he/she pleases.......from the most grounded, hard-nosed scientist to the most untethered fantasy dweller....what I care about is the inherent build quality and sound. The one I bought (and was hopefully not scammed on......it'll supposedly ship from Tokyo on Mon) does not have the engraving........does any one know what years the engraving was put on........was it universally applied??

Edit: I can see it's definitely not on all his basses....maybe just one of the anniversaries of 9/11? I dunno.

It's a moot point if you can't get a hold of him to order, but I wonder if the engraving is an option?

Anyone who's known Jimmy over the years can attest to his willingness to get into the details of an order and spend 45-60 minutes with a customer-- that was when he'd build several dozen basses and consider it a good year. Then the demand for AC blew up and he went to a dealer/distributor model out of necessity.

You can probably get ahold of a dealer listed on the AC site (except Bass San Diego) and they can answer your questions. A two year wait is tough but a lot of builders wait times have increased over the past couple years. I'm not as close to the scene these days, but I have a couple basses on order so if you have questions about that process please PM me and I'll help you if I can.
