Allparts generic strings?

I've never really been a string "comparer", I've pretty much used what's in budget, GHS and D'addario, and I had an endorsement with SIT which was very handy. All were roundwound, all did the job just fine.

Well their definitely in budget so I'm wondering why I'm not buying allparts "generic" strings for $10? Any experience?

I was always told that most mass produced guitar and bass strings were all made in the same factories anyway and simply branded. Anyone know differently?

Can't comment on the strings, but as far as the 'all one factory' thing...the three brands you mentioned are all made in different factories. Those three all make their own strings. DR is another one. You'll find most dedicated string brands make thier own, while bass companies that sell strings as well have their strings outsourced. Fodera makes their own, so they are an exception.
