Alright you Mac dorks.....

yeah, especially simple moving files around.. that's one of my biggest gripes with apple...
another thing is that when i'm running Back|Track 4 as a VM on my new MBP, i can't get the usb wifi g dongle to work at all (it's a mix between VirtBox, Apple and BT4).. works just fine on my old MacBook from 2006..
other than that, at least you're getting some experience on an Apple which is a good thing in your field.

i don't know where you heard that, but if you mean the 2009 mac pros, then no, that's not the case. there's only a few video cards that are compatible, and you still have to get the properly firmwared version of the video card (i.e. the "apple branded" card) or reflash your firmware, at least according to all the information on the topic that i've seen.
in fact, both the ati and the nvidia video cards from the new 2009s work with the mac pro i have, with both ports for the nvidia and with the dvi port only with the ati. the nvidia card, however, is pretty much just a rebranded older generation nvidia card so it's hardly worth the effort to get. even the ati card, the top of the line model available for the 2009 mac pros, is over 2x the price of the same card for pc.
edit : for more info on how to deal with this stuff, check this out : http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=811768 there are a handful of non-apple-related cards that will work in the mac pro, but only if you reflash the firmware. this is a -substantial- undertaking, and a mistake could ruin the card completely, voiding its warranty. not exactly the usual apple-friendly approach.

F9-11 are your friends for things like that, its hard to manage file and program windows without them...I hated MAC OS until I discovered its shortcuts and now I prefer it.

i can understand why they do that - they're maintaining some graphics card-related architecture decisions they made a long time ago that were better than those on the pc, but were more expensive at the time, when the pc was trying to be as cheap as possible.
i don't blame them for doing that either. but the artificial markup of their compatible memory just for a big heatsink and their video cards just for different firmware is lame. with the success of the ipod, you'd think they'd stop trying to charge folks extra for everything include the packaging just because it's got a cool apple on the front.
I know it is unbelievable. So are the comments above about how unintuitive the Mac is & how some could not figure out how to open an app. I can't wait to hear what they have to say about uninstalling an app. 
If having AV software makes you feel better, download a free copy of ClamXAV; Invalid Link Removed
Scan files you download from PCs if you think it is needed. There is no auto-protect because, for the time being, it really is not necessary. The Unix Kernel is very robust. Not infallible but resistant compared to the pyramid of pieces patched together & encrypted to make Windoze.
