Alternatives to AGRO

I sold my AGRO because of my Rat Tail. Extremely versatile and always sounds good in the mix.

I thought about the RT. I dunno, something about the Fuzzrocious pedals just doesn't appeal to me right off the bat. Maybe it's the name ;-). So do you lose any low end?

How about a JHS Morning Glory? Just found out that Roy Mitchell-Cardenas (Mutemath) uses one of these. I'd be willing to trust his judgement for sure ;-) Although, I'm not really sure what kind of tones he goes for with that pedal. Could be an always-on kind of thing, as it is an OD, not a distortion.

JHS really rubs me the wrong way, but for what it's worth the clips I've heard of the Low Ride (bass version of the morning glory possibly? It's their bass overdrive) sound reaaaally excellent

Have you tried the MXR Blow Torch?
Here is a pedal that could sound like the Agro under some settings; it's bright, not muddy at all, and it has a lot of cut through. The tone stack is also excellent on this pedal.

Well, I like the price. Might be worth a try. Personally, I feel like most of the T.C. stuff is pretty jive. But who knows, may work just fine. I think part of my problem is that my "base" rig is a P-bass strung with flatwounds through a Mesa Walkabout. So in order to get enough "bite" from a distortion pedal, I really have to tweak the hell out of it.

Indeed this pedal has a totally awesome sound. it can get some extra bite by turning up the treble control.

Sweet, I'll have to give this one a try. Just dropped the motherload on another pedal. But as soon as I have the fundage I'll put in the order.
