It's an integrated battery box that Yamaha has used for decades. I have the same box on my '91 BB5000A. There's no "clip", and there's no room for a "clip" without doing a lot of modification to the box.
Huh. I've never seen one these "integrated battery boxes" like this. (Maybe 'cause I don't own a Yamaha?) It seems to me like a terrible design flaw to allow such a simple mistake to cause such damage. I wonder how many players have done this while hurriedly replacing the battery on a dark stage?
For some reason I can't help but think about how gasoline and diesel nozzles are different sizes. Imagine how many people would, at least once, inadvertently fill their gas cars with diesel otherwise?

The Yamaha design is to stop users accidentally putting the battery in the wrong way round, you'd have to really force it in wrong.
It definitely takes some doing.
Edit: it takes some doing, but it can be done if you squeeze it in.
