Sunset colors on Half Dome, Yosemite.
I humbly submit two of my own from today - a juvenile Peregrine Falcon. Shot with a 750mm lens from about 15 feet away.
My favorite place on earth! I'll be out there in August. My brother and his wife have a place in Truckee.
Thank you. I just started doing this type of photography last November. In that time I've learned three essential factors in getting shots like that: good equipment, patience and, most of all, dumb luck. You have to be there to get the shot and I was there for three hours before that popped up. I was on my way to the car.
The Harris Hawks around here are fascinating to watch because they hunt in family groups and will even take the chase to the ground and hunt on foot.
I love that place! The wind is always HOWLING up there though.
