I'd never heard of him before, very cool.
Neither had I, but a Bing search of that image immediately brought up his name. Definitely cool and interesting stuff!
This cloud photograph really looks like a famous All Terrain Armoured Transport (AT-AT) walker from Star Wars V - The Empire Strikes Back. Walkers are vehicles that traverse the landscape on mechanical legs.
