American Idol and Bass Amps

I was just watching American Idol with my wife. The stage band all had in ear monitors and there were two bass amps on stage; an Ampeg SVT with 8X10 cabinet and an Aquilar head and cabinet (looked like 4X10). When I saw this, my first thought why does the bass player need two amps. Even if one was a monitor or a prop, he wouldn't need the other. Then I noticed the SVT rig was in the background (very dark) with tape covering the Ampeg emblem on the head and cabinet. The Aquilar was in the forground and obviously well lit (almost like a spot light); you noticed it every time they panned the camera over to the musicians. Is Aquilar paying to have their rig on the A.I stage for advertising? Any insight in to this set-up?

The room used by the Mentors for the rehearsals had both Marshall and Fender amps prominently displayed. they were never used, but set up, up front for what seems to be purely promotion. i also noticed the Ampeg logo blacked out on the SVT. Best guess would be that Marshall and Fender ponied up for advertising and product placement.

At one time, individuals with talent were recognized, supported and elevated in society. Now it appears society has made a full reversal and supports and elevates those that lack any innate talent.
I sometimes listen to artists from the old days, Julie London, Jo Stafford, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, etc.
These artists were all from the time when autotune didn't exist, and the way they used their voices were much alike to a finely played violin, in intonation and expression. These artists were all from before my time; I'm 52 now, so nobody can accuse me of living in the past, but I can say I recognize talent when I hear it.
