Double Bass American Standard / Kay Tuning Peg Repair

Cross-posting this from the Kay owner's thread. In an attempt to diagnose and repair a couple of very sticky pegs that were preventing me from installing new strings, I damaged the threaded end of one the pegs. Any idea on a replacement?

Why do you say it is a King set and not from an American Standard?

They were both made in the same factory, so I usually only call them King when they are engraved with the King name.

James, are there any available spare sources for these parts now? Also, how do you remove the barrel from the pegbox - or do you just remove it once the entire tuning assembly is off?

The whole tuning machine plate comes out as one piece for that side of the bass.

Call the shop and we can talk about replacement parts. I usually have them, but those tuners are in extremely high demand and fetch a premium price. Right now I also have a spare AS back, neck, and I've been fabricating new old spec ribs for about a year- upper, lower, and C bouts. Between work and a new band, things are busy at corporate headquarters!
