Amp Comparison

I went to GC today, I took my bass and one of my cabs and I did a side by side comparison of the GK 1001RB and the Markbass LMIII. The 1001RB has a lot of attack and moves alot of air. It is very mid rangy so to speak but not lacking in the lows. The LMIII was more buttery, mellow sounding. kind of a mix between old school and modern. Both of these heads get very loud. I know the 1001RB is 700 watts vs. the 500 from the LMIII still loud. As always it is preference that makes the diffrence, what sounds good to you and what you can afford. As for me at this point I am leaning towards the LM but I will probally get the LM 800. I like all the above plus the portability/weight factor of the LM heads.

That's how you pick an amp. Go play them and see what you think.

Yeah I probally spent about a hour and 20 min. just going back and forth between the two. The LMIII is very sensitive in respect to the EQ. Small adjustments made a siqnificant audible diffrence in the tone.

The Little Mark 800 is an entirely different beast than the LM3....You should try that as well.
