i have an i-amp 500 .i like it, but i have a problem with any digital amp in this building cutting out. it seems as though there is an electrical problem of some sort. any suggestions on what i can do to nullify this situation other than rewire this place?

The EA iAmp 500 uses a conventional linear power supply and should be no more or less susceptible to power-line-related problems than any "non-digital" amp (ie those with a class AB power amp).
so i may very well have a cabinet issue as well as the known ''current'' issue, as far as maxing out the breaker, it has'nt tripped yet but a 20 amp breaker we are diffenitly using well over 80%.

You need to put a volt meter inline to see how low the voltage is dropping on the line. If it is not dropping below 100 volts you can use one of the Furman AR-15 Power Regulater which helps regulate voltage for short brown-outs or excessive voltage spikes. The downfall, it is around $600.

If you really do have an electrical problem in your building, filters and conditioners may help, but I doubt it. There's just no substitute for having adequate and clean electrical power available.

I sent my iAmp800 back to Gary at EA after I was experiencing the amp sounding 'compressed' whenever I'd lay into on the lower notes with an urb.
he said it has a protective limiter and he re-adjusted it to be to less 'aggressive', it's been fine ever since.

thanks for the info everyone,most appreciated. i was laying in on the low end when this took place, but it also happened with a different amp . i 'm considering the volt meter idea. but the compressed sound in the low end partially was ,i believe, is this 15'' cab.
If it also happened on a different amp it may be the cabinet or the cable!

sorry for the delay in replies. but thank you for your reply. i will check the the cabinet cable also, even though i was using the neo conn., the old 1/4 phone plug was still connected to the other amp but that amp was not on.
I was using an Underwood as my main pickup, also experienced the compression (limiter kicking in) with a Fishman Full Circle too.
I had this very problem using my Focus 2R. A volt meter may not help but one of those simple three lamp plug detectors may.
I had an intermittent open on the common leg of an AC circuit. This condition may still allow current to flow to other devises. The switching power supply would shut down then come back on. A lamp plugged into the same receptacle would stay lit with out even a flicker.
If your amplifier works fine on another circuit or at a different location you'll have to trouble shoot the bad circuit. In my case it was the main receptacle in my garage/shop that was simply over worked to the point were the wires insulation failed over time.

thanks vic, we are 80% sure there is a circuit problem within this building. i"m also concerned about the pickup. this problem has occurred more frequently with the new f.c. and the higher wattage amps.
