There's a head I haven't seen in 30 years. What's the history of Sound City? They seemed like an affordable alternative to Marshall and Hiwatt way back when.

I had this old Genz Benz amp I bought here. It was the Series 2 amp. Super loud little amp for less than $300. It also sounded quite nice.

+1 on the Traynor yba3 (super custom special), and mono block

Look at a peavey alphabass, they're pretty cool and cheap

You can still get blackface Fender Bassmans for $500. I got this '68 for $250 last Summer.

The BK Butler Tubeworks (black w/ yellow) amps are very cool.

I own a Jade Hurricane 100W 15" combo. Very versatile in tone. I think it has Eminence or Celestion speakers. I bought it at $200 AUD which is a steal.

We used to stand outside of bars and such and guess the bass amp before we walked in. We were correct alot. We were always right about Kustoms. They had bottom.

I will say that was a long time ago and I cannot comment on the new Kustoms.

i got my gibson gb440 (which is essentially a thunderfunk 420) for just over $400 dollars used, not very common but something to keep an eye out for...

as far as combos, a used peavey tnt115 or combo 300 are great deals used.
