Double Bass amp volume issue

Hi Guys,
i'm playing in a 50's rocknroll/rockabilly band using a 4 ohm EANL210 with am iamp 800 so using the full 800 into the 210, but i'm a bit scred to turn it up too much, i am using a basmax pickup with the db which sounds good, and i'm running the master and gain at around half volume usually which is almost enough, but i'm a bit afraid to go any further.

Should i adjust the gain or the master to get a bit more volume without blowing a speaker? what would you suggest?

As a rule of thumb, adjust your gain first (with the master turned down pretty low) -- turn up until there is audible distortion (and/or the clip light is flashing consistently), then back off a click or two. Then adjust the master volume as desired. A 210 cabinet is not going to make very much use of your potential power before the speakers start to complain, thereby announcing imminent damage.

If you need to go louder, you need more speakers, and if your amp will not run safely below 4 ohms, you'll need a pair of 8 ohm cabinets or a bigger 4 ohm cab.
