Amp ?

I have a 8 ohm amp it is 500 watts it says it is 8ohm but my cabinets are 115 and 410 @16ohm it is a matching set ....What gives

16 ohm cab with a 16 ohm cab wired in parallel equals a 8 ohm load for the amp.

Amps don't have ohms. They deliver power a certain average amount of power (watts) based on the total impedance of the cabinets which is measured in ohms.

Two 16 ohm cabinets together makes an 8 ohm load. If your amp puts out 500 watts at 8 ohms, you're getting that full power. I've never heard of 16 ohm 410's and 15's though...?

Never heard of a 1X15 and a 4X10 as a "matching set" as they are not a good pairing.

However, if each of your cabs are in fact 16 ohms each, running them together shows a total load of 8 ohms to your amp.

Thanks I use a peavey amp but a friend owed me some cash and I took a Stagg BAH 500 stack for the cash.I looked it up on line and that is the info I got

I'm sorry and the cab are BC 115 300w 1x15 bass and a BC 410 300w 4x10 bass cab

Well the cabs can be found [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] .
They are both listed as 16 ohm cabs so the two together make an 8 ohm load.

Up date on this stack .I have giged out with this amp 5 times now and I am loving the sound.It is made to use the 4/10 with the 1/15 cab .It will be my gig rig for a while.

May I suggest that you stack the cabinets with the 15 on the top. That way you can hear it better and become aware of signs of distress. On the bottom those signs will be drowned out my the more efficient 4x10.

Ya know I thought the same thing but the cabinets are built to interlock with the 1x15 on bottom
