Ampeg 4x10 HLF vs Peavey 4x12. Need advice...

There's an amp not too far from me that I'm thinking about checking out. Here is the description:

"Mid 70's Peavey 4x12" Has a port in the center for extra bass response. I used it as a guitar and a bass cab and it works well with either. Great condition for a 40 year old cab. Has the original Eminence squareback speakers...Wheels also attached. Says 2 ohms"

I've been thinking about changing up my setup. Right now I'm using an SVT-CL. I'm looking for a sound with lots of clarity with tight bottom end, but I don't want it too sound thin. I'm also using a Gibson G3 bass, which is very mid-heavy it seems so I usually scoop my mids a tad.

Maybe I'm not sure to articulate exactly what it is I am looking for in terms of tone, but I have found that when I try to dial in more bass/lows, it gets kind of muddy/boomy with the 4x10 HLF. I'm also trying to get a "bigger" and more present sound, if that makes sense...?

What are your thoughts between the two? Any other amps you might recommend for pairing? I play loud, noise punk if that's relevant.

Clarity and "tight" lows aren't exactly what comes to mind when I hear a 410hlf.

The Peavey shouldn't be very expensive. The old square mag. speakers did have a nice, fairly balanced tone, but couldn't handle a lot of power. Your SVT could be strong enough to cook them if you turn it up enough to get gritty.

The old Peavey square mag. 15's were only about 100 watt speakers. Small voice coil and no vent in the magnet for cooling, though the dustcaps had a small, felt covered vent.
