Ampeg B100R speaker repair question.

HELP!!! I'm trying to get my blown speaker out of my old Ampeg B100R. The cab is sealed and it's a back loaded speaker. I removed the amp, hoping for an opening, but no luck.....How do I do that?

the B100R has the speaker mounted from the front. Take off the grill..
I've changed out mine, and that's where they were.

Hey Joey, Thanks man, I can't believe I didn't see that...I didn't feel the speaker by touching the grill cloth so I assumed it was a back loaded speaker.

HI Guys, Just wondering if you can help me out, I just blew my Speaker in my Ampeg B100r and I have no clue where to get a replacement one. Can you advise what the manufacturer of the 15" speaker is in these amps and where can i get a new on one?

Also, is the process of replacing it difficult? I havent tried repairing a bass amp before but willing to give it a shot as I dont have the money to bring it to a repair shop.

How are you guys blowing speakers? I thought these were pretty bullet-proof. The driver is rated at 150W for a 100W amp.

I am curious if there is some other factor like active bass, pedals, EQ cranked on the low end and gain dimed...I really don't want to fry my speaker. I don't have a backup right now.

Sorry, I don't know any details about replacement. Did you call an Ampeg authorized repair shop?

You will need to order the speaker from Ampeg (LOUD Tech). Or model a generic driver for the cab like an Eminence 3015 MAYBE. The software is available in the stickies.

eminence beta 15. almost identical to the sound of the old cts speakers ampeg used in the 60's b-15's, $65.

The speaker that is in the B100R is rated at 4 ohms, so you'll want to stick with that to get the most out of the amp.

1. Remove grill (attached with velcro pads in the corners). It should be easily pried off with a flat blade screwdriver.
2. Remove screws at speaker perimeter
3. Pull out speaker
4. Disconnect speaker wires at back of speaker

To install a new speaker, do the opposite. It's pretty darn easy.

While you're in there, make sure the cardboard tubes on the vent ports at the back of the cab are ushed firmly into place.

Not to hijack thread but the blue amp light on my B100R blew. Anyone ever tackled this problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

oh geez, right you are. sorry...i'll take back my beta 15 recommendation...i think it only comes in 8 ohms.
