Ampeg B1RE - any good?

I'm a bit of an Ampeg fan although at the moment a bit money tight and I'm thinking about getting one off ebay. From what I've read they sound ok, although it is the bottem end of the Ampeg range, so are they any good? I used to own an Ampeg SVT-200T - any opinions on how would this compare?

Thanks,
Mark

I still have my old B1-RE and bring it out of the closet sometimes to play with.

They are very reliable, simple amplifiers.

I never had any volume problems either. It definitely has enough power to keep up with a guitar halfstack and a drummer if you eq it correctly.

One thing about the head is that it is very middy IMO. Of course, that is something that is easily fixed by a little bit of eq'ing.

Overall it is a very reliable, simple, plug and play amp that is more than enough for most situations. I love mine.

I owned one for a short time. Imo, it lacks lows. It has just enough power to cut through a not PA'd rock band in a small room. If you run it at 4ohm, it will be more effective but still lacks bottom, imo.

For the same price you can get a littlemark 250. Add a bit and you got the LMII. :)
