Ampeg B50R Thoughts

I have, and love my Ampeg B100R.

I just got a B 50R.

Anyone else have one, thoughts.

To my ears the B50R may sound even better than the B100R?

But I don't know why yet?

I have both as well and LOVE my Ampeg B50R!!

I don't know if it sounds BETTER, that would be in the ear of the beholder. But a smaller speaker can add punch, and the fact that I can drive the B50R at a lower volume helps.

I liked mine a lot as a practice amp. I did miss the deep switch that the 100 has, though.

I like the smaller one better, too. Might be the smaller (12" spkr?) , but I also like the BA112 better than the BA115.

I well might be the 12" speaker.
Also, driving the 50 watt B50R.
Good points.
I will use the B50R for drum-less gigs.
And, the B100R for small to medium gigs.

I have the B-50R and it is awesome. I have used Amp w/ 4x10cab, Amp w/ 2x10 and 1x15 external cabs and it is a pain and sometimes over power kill on stage. But the B-50R is just right for club gigs. I run a line to the snake from the back of the B-50R and it fills the stage and the room. I just make one trip to the car coming and going. I'm happy with it. Will have to buy another one if something would happen to it. Trick is to run it through the PA. For small venues, Just let it bleed through the PA with a mic (sm57 or a bass drum mic)

though i like a 57, it really needs to be blended with a di to get lows because the 57 just doesn't have any. and as well as the bass drum mic does lows, i'm not into the scooped eq in bass drum mics. i think it's totally worth it to spring for a good near-flat response mic with low end specs as good as the cab. then you stand a better chance of getting the sound out of your amp into the pa as it is.
