Ampeg BA115

I use Ampeg BA115 at the church for contemporary christian music and I really don't like the amp. I usually use the XLR output to the PA.....

well the thing about this amp is that it doesn't handle the dropD E string very well... it sounds really weird... not a D note at all. I have Tubeworks 7200 mosvalve combo w/ tube pre and it plays D note very loud and clear. Even my Peavey Max 126 10W amp plays D note very well... I don't know what the deal with this Ampeg amp is...:(

I own one and thats NEVER ever happened to me. I own a 5 string and so i know about going low. I also play in a christian band. We were jamming to Alive by P.O.D. and my bass sang soo beautifully handling the low end. At first it sounded really bad BUT after resetting the tone selector and EQ to something warmer, my bass shook the walls. Have you tried adjusting the EQ and flipping through the tone knob to see what tone works best for you?

Bass tones and sounds also have to do with the instrument not just the amp. On top of all that, its very subjective. What sounds good to me might not sound good to you.

Also, what bass are you playing?
