Ampeg BA210v2+svt ext vs RB210+pf ext

So basically loud punk/metal band. Amateurish but will use.for home, rehearsal and live. 1 guitarrist with a jcm800 half stack. I'll be honest, I'm not super picky with sound. I feel with the EQ tones and pedals i can get close to something i like.

If I get a BA210v2 used for $350 and an SVT210av ext cab for $250 that would put me at $600 (maybe $700 to be safe) for 450w and a 4x10

If I get an RB210 for $650 and a pf-210 cab for $500. That puts me at $1150 for 500w and a 4x10

BA setup would be heavier (49lbs+60lbs) vs ( 39lbs+45lbs) for the RB. I'm 6'4" 200 lbs and feel i can move it.

RB would be matching cabinets vs BA and SVT cabs look different.

If I'm willing to deal with extra weight and don't mind the mismatched look. Any reason I shouldnt save money and go for the BA+svt cab?

Other than an extra 50w and different sound. Anything else I'm missing on the RB? I'm aware of SCR vs SGT but honestly have a basstortion pedal (always on) and a big muff pi for extra fuzz.

Thanks for the thoughts!!!

Sounds like a good time! I will suggest you look at a used amp head and 410 cabinet. You will have more volume and more options in the future. Plus, it will be quite loud!

For a louder style band, I don't recommend a combo setup. That goes for any brand. You are on the right track with extension cabs, but I think your money is better spent on separate pieces. My concern is that you will find the max volume out of your combo setup fairly quick. With separate pieces, you will have the option of upgrading and the separate cabinets are almost always bigger than their combo counterpart.

Thanks for your reply. Great points.

I actually found a 410 cab to pick up later, so seems i would be going down this route. Hope it all looks good.

Reason I liked the combo + extension is it gives me flexibility around when to buy things (could delay buying the extension for later) and also give me the chance of having a 210 for smaller places. Afterwards I thought about it and if I had the extension I prob would bring it anyway, so defeats that point.
