AMPEG CABINETS / AMERICAN VS CHINESE

I understand Ampeg Cabinets are no longer made in the USA,and are now made in China or Viet Nam.
Has any one had any experience with comparing the difference in sound and quality. Are the new ones anywhere as good as the USA models? Thank you, Doug.

It's Vietnam and I don't think they sound as good.

I know the Viet ones have thinner wood. However, I heard this was because they went back to plywood instead of using mdf/particle board like they had been doing on the U.S. ones so this actually could be a benefit but I'd imagine it could have a major effect on tone.

I have both US made and Vietnam made Ampeg cabs and they both sound great. The tolex might be better on the US made (so I've heard -- can't tell) but the speakers and cabinet design must be the same -- I can't tell either if it isn't.

Ya, tonally I don't hear a difference. And they do use real wood now, even if it's a little thinner. Still hate the drivers they use, but I hated them since they went to higher power drivers in 2001, which was on SLM's watch.
