Ampeg cabs and amp advice/opinion

Hello! First time poster! I would just like to get a few opinions before I splash some cash on new gear! So, I'm going to purchase a new cab and amp, they will be my first as I have always used combos before. So the head is this guy....

and the cab is here...

First of all, these will match right?! My understanding is the cab needs to be able to handle more power then the amp can send, so if this cab is 600watts into 4ohms, and the head is 490watts/4ohms, I'm safe yes? Or should I find a head closer to 600watts?
Second, does anybody have experience with this combination? I hope to using this for rock/blues and also with a covers band. Playing an American standard Fender Jazz. Any help at all is most appreciated!

awesome is as awesome does. play well and any amp will sound awesome, with the possible exception of behringer ;) however, i dig what you're saying. the 610hlf gets mixed reviews because it falls in between the big low end of a 410hlf and the tighter low end of the sealed 810e. but it sounds pretty good to me, though i must admit to only playing one in the store.

I used to have a deal with Ampeg. I gave it up because I wasn't happy with them. I tried an SVT 4 Pro and it seemed very under powered based on it's wattage rating. I always had a hard time hearing myself and there wasn't any clarity. I thought that maybe the head was bad so I sent it back and got another one. I had the same problem. I sent that one back and got an SVT Classic. It was better but not nearly as good as the 1970 SVT I owned many years before. I gave up the deal and started using GK. I have been very happy with that decision.

JimmyM: Awesome is as awesome does, I like that :) Theres a guy in town here that plays with an 810e, sounds brilliant, but there is no way it would fit in my car so thats that. Would you personaly take a 410hlf over the 610hlf? I hear what your saying about the 610hlf mixed reviews, most people do seem pretty happy with them though, I guess the only real way to find out is try myself.

Rockmusician: Thanks for the advice, thing is, theres a fella here selling the amp for 60% of the retail price. So I'm not sure if I can afford NOT to take it ha ha! If I feel the same way you did after I use it for a while then at least I can sell it on without losing too much £££. I will certainly keep what you said in mind, thanks!
