Ampeg Heritage SVT CL opinions?

Love tube amps! Love the sound of the Ampeg 810 with any amp, SS or tube.
The SVT will sound great, but to get it to the sweet spot you’ll need to crank it and it’s LOUD.
I don’t mind the weight of a tube head even at 57, my work as an electrician (commercial and industrial) has me moving heavy stuff every day.
As someone above said on stage no one will know if it’s tube or SS but you. Heck most people in the audience don’t know what a bass is, probably 80%.
I say if you have the money and your not afraid of the weight go for it. At least you’ll have experienced the Ampeg sound for yourself. You may like it or you may not.

Depends on the cab you’ll be using. That amp won’t be all that impressive without something to really move air with. It will sound good, but to get its potential you’ll need a 4 or 2 ohm load and crank it.

I’m 1 day into my Ampeg 810 and I’ve tested a fender 410, and a single 15” against it using the same MarkBass little Mark III head. Its absurdly heavy and unwieldy but at all levels, quiet to head heating, sounds absolutely incredible. No mud, and absolutely brings ‘the truth’ of a vibrating string unlike anything else. This being said, it is just way too big in a world where there are rigs that can perform dental work at one quarter the weight. I’m about to tolex and rehab it completely nonetheless as a fun project.

I owned a couple of svt-cl heads in the past and sold them. Always liked the sound but didn’t want to move them. Just ordered a new one today but it’s strictly for at home. No more moving it around.

I absolutely adore svts, but if you're not putting it through an 810 it's a waste. Imo of course.

I've had 4 svts, 2 v4s, and an early v2.

The V2 through an efficient 2x12 was enough for any genre outside of metal and doom.
