I tried the Ampeg BA210SP for my electric upright bass. I paid $300 on clearance. I do not recommend this amp.
It sounds very strange, IMO. It is exceptionally boomy in the low mids. The EQ controls are ineffective at dialing it out. There is tremendous bass response, but it is so boomy that everything sounds like mush. (With the EUB, this was actually worked very well to replicate an acoustic double bass, but was very bad for bass guitar.)
The digital effects are also not good, and when engaged, they make a very harsh digital hiss. It was so bad that I disconnected the tweeter. This reduced the hiss, and since I was playing EUB, it didn't make a big difference on the tone.
Lastly, I attempted to use the DI once. When I plugged in a known good XLR cable, the amp died. No more sound from the speakers under any circumstance. Through the headphones, I could hear a constant digital growl like a triangle wave on a synthesizer.
I shipped it back and got my money back. The amp lived for about 35 days. Probably would have died on day 1 if I had tried the DI right away.
