Ampeg Pf 500 and 210he?

I am a new member and have only been playing bass for a year but I want to start performing and my little practice amp is not loud enough. So I was thinking of getting an Ampeg Pf 500 and 210he. But are they worth it or should I look at other amps? :help:

I picked up a pf-500 last week. Still looking for a proper cab. Been running it into a KC-500. I've been really impressed with the amp so far. Handles all if my pedals really well. You'll find a wealth of information on that particular amp through the forums here. Good luck!

P.S. I'm leaning toward the svt-410hlf

Just curious, bro...if you don't like the 410hlf, how come you like the PF115lf when it has super lows, too?

Anyway, I'm obviously biased but I think the PF stuff is a great value for the buck. It has the Ampeg thang going on, and the cabs are very big sounding for their size. The PF210he goes low but it's a little more rolled off in the lows than the others, which is what I like. The other ones go a good bit lower, especially the PF115lf and PF410hlf. I have a PF350 and used to have a couple PF115he's and it's amazingly good for the money.

Personally, I would go for the PF-115HE (and I did, actually). It captures the classic B-15 vibe quite well, is a touch louder than the PF-210HE, and has the flip top that the other PF cabs don't, so you can mount your PF-500 to it. I gig mine all the time, but I have FOH support for bigger gigs.

I've been gigging the exact rig you are considering and I'm loving it. I'm also a 15 inch speaker fan boy, but the PF210HE cab doesn't leave me feeling that I'm missing anything across the tonal spectrum by it being a 2x10 cab. I have other amp gear, but for an affordable and easy to haul rig I really like my PF series setup.

Hey Jimmy.

I like the mids on the 115 better. I love the low end content of the LF cabs, but with out the better balance of mids it can get lost. That said I have not tried the PF or PN 410HLF. Different speakers than the SVT410HLF I have spent a bit of time with.

The 210 has a higher sensitivity rating (99.6 vs 99.5 ;) ) and the amp can be mounted/flipped same as the 115HE. I pair mine with my B15N as an extension and the sound is very much in the portaflex realm, especially with the tweeter off or on -6db.

I use that same rig and I'm happy with it. It's loud enough for most bars and small venues, and if I need more I will pick up another pf210he and stack them. Sounds awesome even without an overdrive pedal and the mid selector switch makes it easier to get the sound you want.

I have the head mounted on the cab's lid and use the fliptop feature for easy transport. I had a custom vinyl cover made for the cab, so when I'm done I just flip the top slide the cover on and roll it out to the truck to take home.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The PF-115HE is louder than the PF-210HE (measured, same room, time, head, bass, & settings - just moved the speaker cable), and the top cannot be flipped on the other two ("extension") cabs in the series, meaning the 115HLF and the 410. The top can be flipped on the PF-210HE.

I have the PF-115he and it's a nice cabinet. The only negative in my opinion is that it does not have side handles, which makes it a bit awkward to carry. It is relatively lightweight, though, so it's not too bad.

I don't know about getting one each of the 115 and the 210. You'd probably find you have a small preference to one over the other and wish you had two of those.
