I've recently been looking at some new amps and Ive narrowed it down to these two, I'm going for a good metal rock tone like Jason Newsteads tone on ajfa (isolated tracks on youtube) or tim cumerford which ,will get me closer to this sound?

I had a Peavey MiniMax that had a fan that was too loud. Also, they re-engineered the tonestack to sound nearly flat to my hears lacking a lot of what I call character. I also had a PF-500 and loved the sound. That and an SVT-Micro cab. Why I sold it I'll never know! However, I do own a GK MB500 and 2 x Eden 110EX cabs that really kick and are very portable. I wish Peavey would put out a custom line made from their Meridian factory. That would be cool.

Another thumbs up for the GK MB 500 in case that's somehow an option. I got one last winter and played a few gigs outdoors with it through the warmer months (using a pair of 2x10 cabs). It sounds enormous.

I'd bet that if you also needed some sort of grind or mild drive for your tone, there are a boatload of different pedals that can help with that. I pretty much play a clean tone, but now I'm sifting through different fuzz options that might be useful as long as I can blend them on top of my dry sound using a loop mixer.
