Ampeg PR-410HLF replacement speakers

I found an Ampeg PR-4x10HLF for $100, only thing is speakers are blown :bawl:, anyways, anyone know what speakers are in them, and possibly where to get them?

worth buying and replacing the speakers? or should I just buy something else? not sure what these are worth, thought I'd ask.....

thanks

I know this thread is a couple of years old but I'm going thru the same thing right now- at low to medium volumes the cab sounds great, at higher volumes or with effects it breaks up. no way to tell if it's the crossover or a speaker (s)? It is noticeably not as clear and clean as when I first got it. If it is the crossover, how much are they to replace and would you know the replacement item name?

Carting around such a big, heavy cab should be rewarded with great lows and loud output, when called for. IMHO, there are some obvious candidates that could work:
-Stock, unique ones, if available. According to my older Ampeg folders, the PRO models had unique drivers.
-Genuine Ampeg ones for regular or Heritage SVT-410HLF.
-Eminence BP102-4.
-Eminence Deltalite II 2510. Not the bassiest driver available, but low weight, high power, high sensitivity and very articulated. Different sound from most Ampegs, though.

There is plenty of other great brands, with less recognition and disrtibution in US, such as Ciare, RCF, TC sounds, Volt, Faital, BMS etc.

I owned one of these and yes, sold it because i found it heavy and impractical to own. All I can say is, after listening to old live recordings of my playing this cab, it has such a deep, rich tone that cuts through the mix beautifully, I would, if I still owned one, buy the correct speakers for this cab, in spite the cost. It is real bass tone, prior to the lighter weight cabs of today. It sounds like a bass cabinet should sound. With the right bass, right playing style, right amp in the right hands, it's pretty breathtaking to a player who appreciates true bass tone. I play through high end lighter weight equipment now and I'm happy with my sound but listening to those recordings through the Ampeg Pro cab makes me wish my back was 20 years younger because it would be worth lugging that thing around just for the tone. Best sounding cab in my opinion.

Whoops...sorry! Was thinking you meant the SVT 410hlf, not the PR410hlf. Don't know if they use the same speakers. I'm not up on PF410hlf's, unfortunately, and they've been discontinued for a long time.

Take a picture of any driver, the numbers on the label on the magnet (if any) and email Bryan or Eric at Orange County Speaker repair. If it's Eminence, they can recone any driver per the manufacturers specs, or steer you towards a suitable replacement driver. One and done.
