Ampeg practice amp BA 108

I am thinking about getting one of these to use around the house, but I I have a 6 string bass as well as a 4. Will the low B string damage the 8" speaker?

My low B is just fine on this amp. Seriously, for $100, this thing is incredible. It gets loud to a certain point and then runs out of juice because it's only 25W, but up til that point it sounds good and is plenty for at home. I ran it live once beside a drummer up on a chair and just cranked on it (with a compressor to be nicer to it). It couldn't quite keep up (unsurprisingly), but it was just fine after. You can't go wrong with this thing. Just use common sense if you hear the speaker having trouble.

I have played my 5 string out of my acoustic B-20 and my Ampeg BA-112 and no problem, and pretty loud too, great for around the house..

No Kidding....I realize That, LOL So your telling me because you have a 10" speaker and I have a 12" speaker mine cant blow and yours will, I find this very hard to believe.. to me their both very small insignificant fractional amps that are meant for exactly what I'm doing, Lite playing around the house, I don't know what you intend on doing with them..

I'm just worried about it being an 8 ". The amp is priced right and would be great for me just playing around the house without getting too loud. I would just hate to ruin it by running my six through it if I get the urge to play it.

Well I think you could ruin most any amp if pushed beyond designed specs..
