Ampeg Pro Neo Series

I misread an almost posted the links, been up all night at the bars but yes I just noticed them too, the prices are up on guitar centers site!

These are new - just like the Heritage line. As a "Pro series" head owner, I'm pleased with the look of the "Pro Neo" cabs. I was never a big fan of the futuristic "Batmobile" look of the '99 Pro series cabs, but I think these new ones strike a good balance between classy and modern. And - they are Made in USA, which IMO, is a step in the right direction for Ampeg.

That PN-210HLF would be on my wishlist if it was 4 ohm instead of 8. I kinda regret recently selling my BXT210M cab - it has the similar tilt-back design but this new one is 22 lbs lighter.

850 watts....these days, that's about average, isn't it? Shouldn't matter if it's 8, 4 or 2 ohms when talking about cabinet rating. As long as your amp can put out 850 watts at 8 ohms, that's a different story.

The Carvin BRX 10.4 neo is rated for 1200.

haha I have waited nearly me entire TB life this was a proud moment haha!
but year at 8 ohms I though that 850 watts was killer, lets hope the price tag on these things doesn't skyrocket

Interesting...I was on the Ampeg site 2 days ago and these were not there...

Prob due to NAMM starting tomorrow.

I really want to hear these things in action. And they look a LOT better than the old Pro cabs for sure!

I did search for any other threads, but I couldn't spot one amidst all of the other unrelated threads. The words Ampeg, pro and neo seem to be pretty common.

So these cabs are new for this year?

Yes - new products for 2010, along with the new Heritage line, the SVT-7 Pro, and SVT-8 Pro (which has been listed for some time - but must be finally getting it out there)

I've had a Made In USA SVT HLF410 for a couple years that I fitted with a quartet of Emminence Delta-Lite Neos. These are 8 ohm speakers that are wired in parallel that up the cabs specs to 1000 watts program and 2000 watts peak at 2 ohms. It's the perfect match for my PortaBass 800 (800 watts at 2 ohms). The cab is definitely lighter with the neos, but I don't know by how much. I can't stand anywhere near the thing past half way on the volume. Seems in light recent Ampeg developments, I had a pretty good idea.
