I'm a rookie with my bass and amp so I still don't know much and am asking for some help: I have an Ampeg BA115T combo and have had it for a good half year now, maybe less. Anyway, this weekend I had the place to myself so decided to turn it up a bit. Now I'm beginning to notice the cabinet would vibrate at certain notes. Have I just loosened something up from my last practice?
Your amp may indeed have a problem, but at louder volume/bass knob levels its not uncommon to start noticing something else in the room rattling (windows/etcetera) that sounds exactly like the amp itself rattling. To be sure, you might try cranking your combo up somewhere else (like outdoors) to confirm if its just a room issue or the amp itself.
yeah, I usually play in a room with ceiling tiles and today I played it in a more "secured" room, plus I was sitting right next to it when playing it regular and could hear the vibrations coming from the cab
You might be able to locate and repair the problem yourself, but if its only 6 months old I wouldn't suggest poking around and possibly voiding your warranty by trying. I'd suggest you seek a warranty repair or exchange.
sounds like you have the some problem i had with my Ibanez Soundwave35 Combo. I found out that the Cabinet wasn't handling the amp so i use my "live show cabinet" which i keep at home connected to the combo amp. My Ibanez Combo-cabinet is broken or something i havent had the time yet to check it out. I'm still not sure if this is the same problem as yours.
Okay, well I played with it today, in the spot where I first noticed and in my other room, and it seems the vibrations have stopped. I haven't touched any dials since the last time. I guess its fine now, eh.
