Ampeg SCR-DI issue

Has anyone seen this happen to their SCR-DI? The bottom cover has bowed on mine. How does this even happen to a piece of metal this thick?

Mine is an original unit, purchased in 2015 and has lived on my pedal board it's entire life plugged into a OneSpot for power.

That's strange. If it was going to bend you'd think it would bend in vs out. Did you open it up?

My SCR-DI bottom plate is as flat as the day it was purchased. Sorry I can't help.

Looks like a battery with the high side up instead of laying flat, and the lid screwed down on top of it?

I did get it opened up. Battery is in like it’s supposed to be and the unit itself is flat and level. It’s only the “lid” that’s bent.

It looks like Velcro was placed dead center on the plate and you left the rubber feet on. And it's spent six years on your board, so it got bent out of shape over time.

I actually checked dates on myself, I've had it six years. Only been on the board for 2 years. But I think you might be right anyway.

Ya, replace those feet with flathead screws. Much better for boards.

I've also never seen velcro whip a pedal out of proportion, either. I've also never left the feet on or placed it dead centre or more than a strip at a time. Or left it on the same board for six years. Living and learning vicariously over here!

I've seen some very thick steel backs bend under the stress of heavy duty velcro when coming off the pedal board. They bow out just like that.

Wow, that must be super heavy velcro to do that. Maybe just do the step-up velcro instead next time?

What was the process for this like? I JUST got one used off eBay and it's bowed some as well, although not as severe as yours.

The interesting thing is this one has Velcro in the corners and no feet.

Wow that is interesting. No feet, but Velcro. I am getting a picture of how the warping happened.

From experience, when a pedal enclosure gets warped, that's because of poor attachment methods. Putting Velcro in corners couldn't be giving it the coverage it needs. Or it's a cheap out measure that turned expensive. Pedal enclosure warping is usually a result of someone used way more Velcro then was needed and like a dummy, just went and RIPPED the device off the board with no care. Either that, or they used loop Velcro on the pedal and hook on the board. The opposite way.
