Ampeg scr for reamping

Hi I'm not sure if this is technically considered reamping or not but here's my situation. I'm 2/3rds of the way through my bands new album and listening back the bass Tracks recorded with the Reddi I had a few months back sound so much better than my other tracks. This has led me to start exploring reamping, which I still know little about. While I'm not sure I have the cash right now for a Reddi though I'm considering it I did just by an ampeg scr off TBass this weekend.
Now I'm wondering if I can run all my previously recorded bass tracks back through it to get the tone I like or closer to a B15 type tone.
I run logic, a focusrite 40 and I have a radial jdi. So I'm wondering if I can run a recorded bass track in logic through a focusrite output into the xlr of the radial jdi then take 1/4" out of the jdi and run it into the 1/4" in on the ampeg scr(or Reddi if I get one), then take the xlr out on the ampeg scr and run that into the input of my focusrite and record it in logic.
Let me know if this would potentially work

Sidenote I also have a great sounding all tube bass amp would this basically be the same set up but the line would go into the amps input instead of the scr and then I'd mic the bass cab?

It is probably possible but you are going to be adding a lot of noise and I don't think you'd be able to get a good consistent sound. Whether or not that matters when everything is mixed I can't say, but I would experiment with these details in mind. The problem is that there is no such thing as a pure signal when recording analog. Even if you play a digital track, noise from the analog carrier along with the original noise from the analog carrier will combine. It's possible that this will still be below an acceptable level, especially if the original noise levels were well managed. I just wouldn't count on it.

Beyond that you are also changing the signal chain slightly. Since you originally used a REDDI, playing that track back through the SCR is going to be different than playing your bass directly through the SCR. The REDDI would not only have to be capable of but would have also had to have been set to a completely transparent setting for this to not affect the tone in any way. Depending on the controls of the SCR, you might be able to match between the two but in my experience that can be very difficult and time consuming. You might get lucky and not have the tone be too far off, though.

Playing through a cab might be the best bet. Since that changes so much of the signal chain it might blur out a lot of the differences between the two signals and you can really get a lot of variation with the type of mic and its positioning. Anyways, lots of experiments to try.

I guess you could call it reamping, if no actual amp is involved many people would refer to it as a "hardware insert" but yes it will work. The JDI can be used as a reamp box, although I've heard many people say using an actual reamp box sounds better. I own several JDIs but never used them for this as I have an actual reamp box. Logic may or may not adjust for latency, worst case you might need to nudge the signal back.

Just a thought to save time and money, have you tried running one of the bass amp sims in Logic? There's even a B15 in there. I know people say the REDDI "sounds like a B15" but as it has no speaker sim you might get a more similar result in logic with the amp sim by disabling the cab.

Thanks for the responses guys! Good info. I went down the YouTube rabbit hole and saw a bunch of videos comparing reamp boxes vs other options like jdi. Seemed like the big difference is the noise floor. So given the price of some reamp boxes less than $100 I think it'll be worth getting one if nothing more than experimenting.
I had no idea that logic had a b15 sim, I'll definately be checking it out!!
