AMPEG Support = HORRIBLE!

When it was SLM pre Loud Tech, their Customer service KICKED ASS. Now it's TERRIBLE, it took them a solid month AFTER they charged my credit card to ship a small parts order. They only shipped it after I sent a Scathing email to every member of management, board of directors, vice presidents, everyone i could find. They had the stuff shipped within 2 hours after this email. Coincidence, I think not.

I called the old service center today and he said he still repairs ampegs but not through the company. I asked how much it would be to replace the fan. he said $90 in total. $35 for the fan and $45 for the labor and it would be ready same or next day. hmmm and shipping it back to ampeg would cost me probably around 40 bucks and would take over a month to get back... I think I'll spend the extra $50 and get it back the next day!

good call dude...

I bought an Ampeg SVT-4 Pro about a year or so ago, certianly no more than that.

After about 4 months, it developed a hum in the direct out.

I contacted GC, the store from which I bought the amp, and they in turn contacted Ampeg who shipped me a brand spanking new one within a week, no questions asked.

I was quite pleased with the service, it is a real shame to hear they have moved away from taking care of their customers.

Oh well, folks will just start spending their money elsewhere.

That's definitely alittle scary considering I dropped $3,000 on an Ampeg rig that I've been touring with for 1 1/2 years ago. Thank god I've never had any trouble out of the rig itself considering what I've put it through. I'm glad I got the longest GC extended warranty possible.
