Ampeg SVT-4 PRO cold and sterile

I know what you mean about cold and sterile. I a/b'ed my SVT4 and my Markbass LMIII through my ampeg 6x10 at soundcheck last weekend and it was no contest. The LMIII was definitely the tone winner for me. So much easier to get a warm fat tone. And honestly, 500 watts was plenty through that cabinet to get the job done!

If it's a USA 4 pro I'll take that "cold and sterile" sounding bad boy off your hands.

It took me awhile to get the sound in my head with the amp, but once I dialed it in it sounded even better than I had imagined.

I bought one once because it looked great on paper, but my old tube Magnavox SVT kicked its arse in both tone and volume in side by side comparison, so it went back within the return period.

I won't make that mistake again. The old tuber is worth every pound.

Deadpost ARISE!!

I just got a clean 2k5 USA made SVT-4 Pro, and it's a beast (of course I'm using the correct bridged mode speakon cable) into a GK Neo 412. I play metal and punk, and perhaps I haven't cranked the gain knob enough, but I put a Dr J. Sparrow in front of it (supposedly BDDI clone) and it's like going from stomping elephant to full raging mammoth mode. I digs it!

The one I owned liked the gain at 3 o' clock
