Ampeg SVT-AV Head.. Thoughts?

Alright, so I've been saving up a bit to buy an all tube Ampeg. Couldn't decide between a used CL, or Used VR. Both are different I know, but I love the sound of both. But theres a guy selling an Ampeg SVT-AV head in my town for $950. I'm not too familiar with these. I just know there an anniversary issue??? But that's it... So, What are yalls thoughts on this amp? And is $950 a decent deal if everything works decent and it looks good?

Im pretty sure the AV heads where just CLs with different cosmetics.

Is there an actual "anniversary date" to coincide with the AV cab cosmetics and/or reissue V4B. I'm guessing it's 197X-something maybe? Or is it just a marketing thing?

99 would have been the 30th. The AV isn't mentioned in the Ampeg history book, which ends in 98, so I must assume it was 99 it came out.

I would ask him how old the tubes are. Some guys sell their SVT's when their tubes are on their last leg which would leave you spending more cash.

Get it, I love the way the AV looks, basically to my understanding its the only one with that particular look.
