AMPEG SVT DI vs AMPEG SVPCL

Hello frieds,

I´m very interesting in know the advantages of use a Ampeg SVT DI as recording tool and live DI device vs a Ampeg SVPCL Rack tube preamp for the same purposes ¿¿what could you recommend me that is the better option???

well, the Di should just give you some tube thickness, while the preamp has a whole voicing and eq section which will let you tweak the sound to the way you want...

Put it this way, if you think your bass sounds just perfect the way it is, then the tube DI will make it that tiny bit better that you could never eq in... if your bass sounds like it is lacking something, then the eq section of the preamp will let you dial that in (although it isn't a vast eq section) and give you that tube vibe.

Thats just my experience with the two... I advise trying them out if you can...

Thanks so much for you words, I believe that the option of a tube DI will be better to me, thinking that I´m so happy with the sound of my basses and only will need the coloration that the tubes can offer me?

What kind of basses you own???

I recently tried to record using my SVT-CL head and the signal was real dirty so I ended up going direct. The SVT didn't sound bad, it deffinantly added warmth and that tube fuzzyness, my musicman just sounded more upfront when going direct.
