So I have 3 Svt 8x10's and only 1 has the original Ampeg dolly. I searched around and the cheapest one I could find was about $100. In my mind I feel I could make one and tolex it for way cheaper. Has anyone ever made their own to the exact Ampeg specs.? I wanted them all to stand at the same height since when I use my SVT head it can be half way on each of the 2 cabs. Does anyone have the exact measurements of the dolly and the casters? Thanks in advance.

Ampeg SVT Dolly question.

If you have one original dolly why not use that for specs?
Honestly I'm not good with woodwork/tolex so I just bought the fliptops one. Plus it comes with the screw on things so the dolly stays attached and the rubber feet and all. The only thing I don't like about the fliptops/original dolly is that only one side has swivel casters, the other side is fixed so it only turns from one side. Good I guess so it's not all over the place, but also a pain in the butt sometimes when trying to roll around in tight places.
That's how Ampeg did the casters. I guess they wanted it like a shopping cart. An advantage of the two fixed casters is that the cab can't roll forward. I think that I prefer four swivel casters as it makes moving it easier.
I make dollies out of ¾" plywood and cover them in denim from a fabric store. Less expensive than tolex.

I would do the measuring but it's at our practice spot so I won't be there till Saturday. I was hoping to make it before so I could put it on then. I have a few of the harbor freight dollys that we use to move cabs without casters but the size thing is the problem. I guess I'll check it though can't hurt.
In short, "yes". I made one for an old Magnavox-era 810 about 7-8 years ago. However, I didn't get around to putting tolex on it; I rattle-canned it. It worked great, it was easy to build and the parts were very inexpensive.
