Ampeg SVT2 Pro question

I'm thinking of switching from an svt3 pro, to the all tube svt2 pro. I have no way to test drive one before buying, so I'm trying to get some opinions from some 2 pro owners out there. Is it really worth the extra expense, weight and maintenance hassel of all tube power for the alleged sound this thing has? My guitarist uses an all tube Orange amp and his rig sounds great. I can dial in a good tone with my current rig using a 4 string Sterling, so part of me says to just leave it the way it is.

My other question is does the 2 Pro support an 8 ohm cab? Looks like it only operates on 4 and 2 ohms. If that is the case I'll have to get another cab, or haul 2 cabs to every gig.

Any thoughts on this would be apreciated.

Is it necessary to use one to be a bassist? No. But I'm a lot happier with my tone using tube amps than using SS or hybrid amps, which I think makes me play and perform better. So you just have to ask yourself if that extra depth of tone is worth the weight. For many, it is. For many, it's not. Personal decision.
