Ampeg vs Orange 1x15'

This is a continuation of a thread I posted about getting a 1x15''. Since Im in Australia, and everything is expensive, I have found 2 2nd hand 1x15s that interest me.
The orange obc115 and an ampeg svt15e.
Orange is $700, and the ampeg $400. To the best of my knowledge both have been well used, but are in original state.

What are your opinions and pro's/con's of each? I want to use one as a stand alone cab for practice and small gigs.

if you can swing it, go with the orange. it's one of the great 15's. the ampeg 15's are nothing special IMO and aren't built as well or with as good of materials as the orange.

I agree with your assessment on the Orange but disagree with you on the Ampeg. Construction-wise, Orange is built like a brick $h!touse (similar to Mesa IMO) but soundwise, Ampeg is excellent.

I have been using Ampeg 8x10, 2x10 AND 1x15 cabs for years and they have all sounded great and have been reliable as hell.

The Orange 1x15 is a really special thing and will likely last a lifetime. They are also about $700USD in Canada where I live. My Ampeg 1x15's were bought used for between $225 and $275.

If money was no object, I would go with Orange. Personally, I would rather have 2 Ampeg 115's than 1 Orange 115.

N.B. ALL Ampegs I mention above are American made. I have not owned a made in Viet Nam Ampeg cab.
